Columbus Court Docket Quick Facts
Columbus Court Docket Records Online
The fastest way to pull up a Columbus court docket is through Indiana's MyCase portal. This tool is free. It runs all day, every day. You can search by name, case number, or attorney. Results come back from all Bartholomew County courts at once, so you don't need to know which court handled a specific case. Each result includes the full docket sheet with every filing, hearing, and order listed in order.
MyCase connects to the Odyssey case management system that Bartholomew County uses. When a clerk enters a new filing or a judge signs an order, it shows up in the system. Most updates appear within one business day. The docket gives you the date of each action, what type of filing it was, and which party submitted it. For cases that are still open, you can track upcoming hearings and deadlines too.
Note: Some older Columbus cases filed before the Odyssey system may not appear in online search results.
How Columbus Docket Entries Work
A court docket is the running record of a case. Every time something happens, it gets logged. A new lawsuit gets filed and the docket starts. The other side responds. Motions get filed. Hearings get set. The judge makes a ruling. All of it goes on the docket in the order it happened. Think of it as a timeline for the case.
Columbus cases go through one of four Bartholomew County courts. The Circuit Court and three Superior Court divisions split the caseload based on the type of case and the court's capacity. Criminal charges, civil disputes, small claims, protective orders, and family law matters all produce docket entries. Under Indiana Court Rules, each court follows the same format for docket sheets, which makes them consistent across all four courts in Columbus.

Columbus Docket Access Rules
Indiana law says most court records are public. IC 5-14-3 is the state's open records law and it applies to court docket entries in Columbus just like everywhere else in the state. You do not need to explain why you want to see a docket. Anyone can look at them.
There are limits though. Administrative Rule 9 sets out what gets restricted. Sealed cases won't show up in a search. Juvenile records under IC 31-39-2 have strict access limits. Cases that have been expunged under IC 35-38-9 get removed from public view entirely. Social Security numbers, bank account numbers, and other personal identifiers are redacted from public docket entries per the Access to Public Records Act guidelines.
Note: If a search returns no results for a case you know exists, it may be sealed or expunged.
