A docket record is the official log of what happens in a case. It begins with the filing of a complaint or charge. From there, every action gets recorded. Motions, responses, hearings, orders, and rulings all appear on the docket in the order they happen. If a case has a lot of activity, the docket can run many pages long. For simpler cases, it might be just a few entries. Indiana Administrative Rule 9 controls which portions of these records are open to public view and which are restricted.
